At the end of April 2025, Google made an update to its Google Ads Transparency policy, making it more convenient for the clients to know who is paying for their ads.
This has put agencies in a crucial situation where they cannot hide their public identity.
This update has been up since the first week of May,2025.
The update is that Google will hereby allow clients to view detailed information on who is paying for the Google Ads and know whether it is the same advertiser or a different one.
If you are using an agency account, the client’s payment profile will be the payer’s name and will appear on My Ad Centre and the Google Ads Transparency Centre.
This is not an issue if you are a verified advertiser, as it will automatically include the payer’s name in the profile.
Note of advice for agencies:
It is important to make sure that the payer’s name is correct.
If you have already made the changes and have been verified, then from June 2025, you will be able to edit the payer’s name manually in the Google Ads account verification settings.
As said earlier, this is to know exactly who is paying for the ads and avoid misattribution and more confusion.
If you are an Election Ads advertiser, you would have been asked to disclose the payer’s name at the time of verification. If you have incorrectly given the payer name, you will have to go through the Election advertiser verification again.
Coming to an end, if you are a verified Google Ads agency, you need not worry about this update. If you are an agency finding it difficult to keep up, feel free to contact us; we will help you out with a smile.
