WhatsApp was the only media without ads, but now Meta has brought in ads into WhatsApp. This could be considered a boon for those businesses and channels that constantly use WhatsApp.
After over a decade, Meta has brought this change to the messaging app. Till this update, Meta did not want to monetize out of the app, but now the CEO has decided to flip the pages and bring in new changes to the application.
We’ve worked over the last two years to make this tab the place for you to discover something new on WhatsApp and it’s now used by 1.5 billion people a day. – WhatsApp

3. Ads in Status

Businesses can place their ad on the status similar to the businesses that post stories on Instagram. This will appear with a direct messaging button, so once the viewer clicks, they will be able to contact you or learn about your business by visiting your profile.
But know that these updates will be available under the updates tab for your customers.
How will Meta reach the right audience with the right sellers?
Meta will be fetching the data of the users from which region and city the user if from and will display the ad accordingly. Here are a few things Meta will be looking into,
- Country and City
- Type of the device
- Language
- The channels they have followed
- Whether they have interacted with any business within the app
So, if you are an advertiser, it is important that you have linked WhatsApp with the Meta Account Center, all the data from Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp will appear in it.
But if the customer reaches out via personal text, it will not appear in the Meta Account Center.
Coming to an end, WhatsApp has over 3 million users worldwide, which can be a greater opportunity for channels and businesses to get greater exposure.
