Amazon Sponsored Services Brings a New Opportunity for Amazon Ads Services

Amazon Sponsored Services connects service providers with potential customers based on their shopping and search activity.

Amazon is going beyond advertising products by launching a new service named Amazon Sponsored Services, the purpose of which is to connect local and online service providers with Amazon customers when they are most in need of a service.

Amazon introduced Sponsored Services on 29 September 2026. In the case where a customer buys or searches for a product on Amazon, it may be the case that they then need professional help. For example, someone who purchases a kitchen faucet might later on have to call in a plumber. At that point, Amazon can make use of the customer’s intention to buy in order to show them a suitable service provider.

Sponsored Services takes a different approach to Amazon advertising by connecting service providers with customers based on their shopping and search activity. Instead of focusing only on the product a customer is viewing or purchasing, Amazon can use these signals to identify when that customer may also need a related service.

How Amazon Sponsored Services Works

Sponsored Services employs AI-driven intent detection in order to detect cases where a customer might need professional help, and, according to Amazon, advertisements can show up on its various properties when a customer makes a purchase or searches for something related to a service.

The aim is also to decrease the number of steps that a potential customer has to take before contacting a business. It is possible for customers to ask for a quotation or to call a service provider themselves. Another useful part is that businesses can receive more qualified leads with some customer details already filled in. This can make it easier to understand the request and get in touch with the customer.

Examples of such businesses are plumbers, electricians, landscapers, restaurants, and beauty salons; these also form part of the service categories that Amazon has identified for its broader Sponsored Services offering.

Where are Amazon Sponsored Services Available?

Amazon Sponsored Services are only available in North America, United States; Amazon states that access to the solution will be available via the Amazon Ads Unified API in Q4 of 2026, while access through the Ads Console is expected to come in 2027.

It shows that the feature is still in its early stages, but it is worth keeping an eye on for agencies and business services that advertise.

This is Not Another Amazon Product Listing Service

For sellers, Amazon product listing services are primarily focused on making the product listing page easier to understand and more accessible to buyers. It may include optimizing product titles, descriptions, images, keywords, and other components of the listing.

I see Sponsored Services as a different opportunity. Instead of promoting a product listing, it is focused on helping service businesses connect with potential customers who may already have a need for their service. A customer’s search or shopping activity can give Amazon a signal that a related service may be useful.

Amazon is also using Alexa+ to understand the needs of customers. This means that a customer can ask Alexa+ for information regarding restaurants or assistance at home. Amazon will be able to use this conversation to understand the customer’s needs and provide him/her with a service provider.

This is also something I think Amazon Ads service providers should watch closely. Agencies that already manage Amazon advertising campaigns for sellers may now have another area to consider when working with local and online service businesses.

What This Means for Amazon Ads Service Providers?

Amazon has always been closely linked with advertising products to people who are already shopping; Sponsored Services goes a stage further by linking shopping activity with a possible service need.

For agencies that provide Amazon Ads services, this is another aspect to take into account when building campaigns for their clients.

Clicks is not the main emphasis for Amazon, as it focuses on Cost Per Outcome (CPO) with its Sponsored Services and provides reports on outcomes, the outcome rate, spend, and type of outcome.

This makes the solution even more relevant to businesses where a lead, a call, or an estimate is more worthwhile than just having people visit their website.

Amazon Listing Optimization Still Matters

The fact that Sponsored Services have been introduced does not make it less important for sellers to optimize their Amazon listings.

Amazon Sponsored Products keep on promoting individual product listings by means of cost-per-click advertising. The advertisements can show up in the results of Amazon searches and on product pages, thus helping sellers to reach customers who are searching for relevant products.

As a result, the opportunities available now vary according to the kind of business.

In order to improve both the visibility of a product and its sales, a seller of products may have to use Amazon product listing optimization services and Amazon advertising campaigns.

A service provider operating in the area might find it advantageous to use a solution like Sponsored Services when that type of service becomes available to its business category and market.

For advertising agencies, it will become all the more important to understand the difference between these advertising opportunities.

My View on This Amazon Ads Update

Businesses such as plumbers, electricians, and other service providers already use platforms like Google Ads and Meta Ads to reach people who are actively searching for their services. Sponsored Services gives them another opportunity to reach potential customers through Amazon.

Amazon has a great deal of knowledge regarding what shoppers are searching for and what they are buying. Sponsored Services uses this information about shopping to work out what the customer may need next.

A person who purchases a product can demand another service even if that person doesn’t actively search for it.

This presents an interesting opportunity for Amazon Ads service since, rather than having to wait for a customer to search for a plumber, an electrician, or some other professional, the advertising system can react to the signs that indicate that the need already exists.

For any organization dealing with Amazon sellers, local businesses, or service providers, this latest development from Amazon Ads should be kept in mind.
